Digital Citizenship: How We Connect to the World Around Us
Why Do We Learn Online?
With various technology tools at our fingertips, learning can happen beyond the classroom. Students can use the web as a way to find various learning resources, connect with experts and other students, and finally as a tool to display their learning to the local and global community. When students know they have a larger audience they become more motivated to learn and share new ideas. Technology has helped our learning community expand beyond the school and across the world. While technology will be a key tool for our class, please keep in mind that there will be LOTS of learning happening within the classroom without the internet. Technology will merely be a resource that we will draw upon to enhance our learning at times.
Our Class Blog
Our class blog is a way for us to share our learning with each other, as well as family members and friends. It is a great way for students to learn how to write meaningful comments about each other's work. Please feel free to visit our blog; read some student posts, and make some comments.
We have a class twitter account at @MrNsClass, which provides quick, daily updates about what we are doing in class. The hope is that this will keep parents in touch with what's happening in our classroom, and that it will encourage further discussions at home. There is no need to have a Twitter account to view the updates.
