Our class created projects comparing the Inuit culture to another Canadian First Nations group. Students conducted some careful research and they were allowed to share their learning in a way of their choice. Projects ranged from booklets, to Keynote slideshows, to songs, to posters, and even included a sock puppet show! It was great to see the engagement and the variety of presentations.

Our class is started to explore graphing in Math. Today we tried to brainstorm as a class about what we knew about graphs. There were some interesting answers! We also shared our wonderings about graphs. Later on when the unit is over, we'll try and add some facts about what we have learned. Hopefully we can answer some of those wonderings!
Our class has created a Compliment Tree! Students are welcome to write compliments to each other on leaf-shaped pieces of paper. They can be signed who they are from, or they can be anonymous. Each class meeting we read out the compliments. The leaves are then added to the tree. It's definitely added some positive vibes to our class! Come by to check it out sometime!
Our class drew different lines across the page, while listening to music. The style and flow of the line changed as the genre of music changed. Students then coloured in their designs using warm and cool colours. After, they cut out a dot shape of their work, which they felt was the best. They then cut the dot into four equal pieces. Finally they took their pieces and mixed them up with 3 other students' pieces to create a new dot. They were encouraged to mix and find someone who they felt complimented their work. You can see the results below:
Sunnyside's Kiva Club, which Division 5 & 4 helped create last year has already loaned funds to 6 new entrepreneurs this year! Our club has lent out a total of $350 already with much more to come!
Our club is currently working on a fundraising plan. The club also welcomes any individual donations as well. Every bit can help. An anonymous donor gave $75 to our club just last week. Thank you! Please visit Sunnyside's Kiva Club page at: www.sunnysidekiva.weebly.com to learn more about what our club is doing. Our club includes some students of our class as well as students from all classes, Grades 4 to 7. Thank you for your support! - Mr. Neumeyer Here are some pictures to illustrate what the club has done so far: It was a very short school week and unfortunately our class writer was away ill this past week. Hopefully we will have a new update for next week. : )
Please read the past two weeks that were just posted below. Sorry for the delay, there have been some issues with the webpage host. -Mr. N This week we started to learn basic algebra in Math. We also had another Social Studies black and we had a lot of people get the research sheet done. We also had Music. Ms. Hagen told us that we were going to start recorders on Nov. 14th. In Music we also got a game day, which might be at least one for awhile. We also had Science and we learned about the food chain. We also had a Remembrance Day assembly. The trumpets played "The Last Post". They did a very good job and there was also a bagpipe player.
-A. We had our spelling this week and most of us doing pretty well. Our LA assignment was to read a story and retell it with a different viewpoint or change it completely with a different setting and different characters. We also finished up an episode of "The Nature of Things" that we watched for Science. We're still doing well with our French project, and our Halloween party was pretty good. Most of us got sugar rushes, and had to do jumping jacks in the back of the classroom. That's what I call the greatest school party...until next Halloween.
-C. I've had some difficulty logging into Weebly in the past week when trying to update our website. I've been wanting to add some new Class Meeting Minutes and a Weekly Update. I'm hoping to add this soon.
-Mr. Neumeyer Our class meeting minutes have been posted. Click on the "More..." button, and then click on the "Class Meeting Minutes" button.
